Although the Tenneco Oil rigs are located off Hallandale, Florida, they are considered the northern most dive sites for dive operations in Miami. The oil platforms are in five sections and were originally used in the Gulf of Mexico by Tenneco Oil Company for gas and oil exploration.

At great expense Tenneco Oil, Inc. brought the towers by barge around the Florida Keys and placed them at their present site.

The three sections that are within safe recreational diving limits are at depths of approximately 95, 105 and 115 feet. The deeper two sections were placed for fishery resources and rest in about 200 feet of Water. The relief for all of these sections is about 50 feet and is easily found with a standard depth finder.

With their close proximity to Haulover Inlet, care should be taken to time your diving as close to high tide as possible. If you do not, you will most likely find strong currents and low visibility.
